International Conference
The International Conference on “Advances in Welding Science and Technology for Construction, Energy and Transportation Systems (AWST-2010)
Scope Global improvement of life and technological progress have been supported with innovations in welding science and technologies worldwide. Hence, this Conference, AWST-2010, in conjunction with the 63rd IIW Annual Assembly of, aims to bring industries and leading researchers together to share recent advances in welding & and joining sciences and technologies to achieve cost-effective, environment-friendly, safe and long-lasting welded systems in construction, energy and transportation. Effective networking between welding research and industry has significantly contributed to the recent developments in these sectors. The main focus of the Conference will be developments in materials (e.g. steels, aluminium alloys and welding consumables), welding processes, design, inspection (NDT) and FFS analysis. Special emphasis will be given to recent developments in pipeline welding, as well as to the design, characterization and flaw assessment of higher strength onshore and offshore pipelines, to achieve efficient new energy networks such as the Nabucco gas pipeline.
Topics Recent developments in:
- Advanced steels and Al-alloys and their weldability
- Welding consumables and welding processes
- Design and simulation approaches and their industrial applications
- Testing and characterization including component and full-scale tests
- Analysis of Fatigue-Fracture-Corrosion-Creep mechanisms of welds
- Fitness-for-Service (FFS) procedures, applications and standardizations
Several parallel sessions will be organized in conjunction with invited lectures to be conducted after the Plenary Session. Poster sessions will feature alongside the exhibition.
Special Sessions (Friday 16th July, 2010) on: Pipeline welding, design, testing and inspection for oil and gas transportation These special sessions will provide a unique international forum, which will also include contributions from invited speakers on recent projects and studies in these fields.
